Edward Granger's papers consist of a diary and a scrapbook. The first portion of the diary (Nov. 29, 1858 to Feb. 20, 1859) was written while Granger was attending Michigan Agricultural College. He discusses classes, work assignments, daily routine, and recreation. The second part was written while he lived with his parents in Detroit, Michigan. The last pages consist of passages copied from his readings and Latin exercises. In his scrapbook, Granger recorded a few class notes and the hours he spent laboring at various jobs for Michigan Agricultural College.
